Dorothy Paulina Lutz was born June 17, 1929, the daughter of Walter and Esther Briggle Kortmann. She passed away Saturday, January 14, 2012, at the Reed House in Denison, Iowa at the age of eighty-two.
Dorothy was born in Schleswig, Iowa, and received her education in country school. She was baptized in Christ on July 7, 1929, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Soldier Township and was confirmed on April 18, 1943, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hanover Township. On April 13, 1947, she was united in marriage to Arthur H. Lutz, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, and to this union one daughter, Cynthia, was born.
Dorothy was a homemaker who enjoyed socializing with family and friends. She was a very active member of Zion Lutheran Church where she served as President of the Ladies Aid and as an officer of Iowa District West LWML. She also volunteered at Eventide helping with bingo and birthday parties. In her spare time, Dorothy enjoyed playing Bingo, flower gardening, babysitting, and playing cards. She was an avid cook who loved her kitchen and making baked goods for Zion.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Walter; two sisters, LaVera and Paula; three brothers-in-law, Melvin, Johnny, and Carl. Survivors include one daughter, Cindy and her husband; two sisters: Alice and Wilma; one sister-in-law, Elaine and her husband, Lloyd; other relatives and friends.
