Dorothy M. Korner

Dorothy Marie Korner was born April 21, 1928, the daughter of William and Minnie Plagge Namanny. She died at the Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Thursday August 6, 2015.
Dorothy grew up on a farm between Charter Oak and Ute, Iowa. She was baptized as an infant at St. John Lutheran Church in Charter Oak and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grant Township. After completing her early education in a rural school near her home, she attended the Schleswig Community High School, graduating with the class of 1946. September 8, 1946, Dorothy was united in marriage to Donald Korner at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Grant Township, of rural Ida Grove, Iowa.
The couple settled on the family farm south of Schleswig and was blessed with the birth of three children. While on the farm, Dorothy enjoyed the farm life as she helped her husband in his farming duties. She enjoyed both flower and vegetable gardening, quilting, cross stitching and other hand work, baking, especially her molasses cookies and other shaped cookies. She and Donald enjoyed socializing with others as they enjoyed attending various kinds of dancing events and were members of the same 500 card club for more than 50 years. She also enjoyed bingo in more recent years.
Dorothy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who devoted her life to her family and to her Lord and Savior through her church. She continued to bring the message of Jesus love for us through teaching Sunday School and helping her children and grandchildren with their confirmation studies.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Erma Griel and her husband, Martin; four brothers, Raymond Namanny and his wife, Viola; William and Alvin Namanny and Martin Namanny; one son, Dennis and her husband in 2013. Survivors include: one son, Mike Korner and his wife, Kathy of Schleswig; one daughter, Connie Gustafson and her husband, Mark of Fort Dodge, Iowa; five grandchildren, Rob and Rita and their children Dallas and Colton; Brad and Heidi and thir children Grayson and Kayley; Kim and Jerod and their children, Tanner, Sadie and Jaden; Curtis and Angela and their children, Austin, Calli and Kara; Jason and Tammy and their children, Tyler and Derek; two sisters-in-law, June Namanny of Manson, Iowa; Elsa Namanny of Kamrar, Iowa.
