Dorothy M. Namanny

Dorothy Mae Namanny was born September 15, 1932, on a farm south of Schleswig, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Anna Ullrich. She passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018, at her home in Denison, Iowa, at the age of eighty-five.
Dorothy was baptized in Christ March 12, 1933, and confirmed her faith April 14, 1946, both at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison and was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Denison. She received her education at the rural school, Hanover #1 and graduated from Denison High School with the class of 1950. After graduation, she began her life-long career in the banking industry, working the entire time at Crawford County Trust & Savings Bank in Denison where she was still employed as a part-time teller. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Namanny November 1, 1953, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison and they were blessed with the birth of two sons.
Faith and family were very important to Dorothy and her life was centered around her grandchildren, Morgan, Kenneth and Nathan, by attending their many activities and watching them grow to young adults. Traveling and socializing with neighbors and friends especially Phil and Donna Stephens and Leroy and Dorothy Childress were favorite pastimes for her. She particularly enjoyed road trips and Bible study trips, as well as taking cruises to Alaska and the Carribean. Dorothy also found pleasure in rock and flower gardening, music with Little Drummer Boy being her favorite song as well as country music, horses, going to the casino, and watching westerns and British comedies on television.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth; and her son, Scott. Survivors include: one son, Bruce and his wife, Catherine; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, LaVerna and Betty; other relatives and friends.
