Dorothy Pauline Jepsen was born March 3, 1930, the daughter of Henry and Augusta Hintz Ackelbein. She died at the Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa, Saturday, November 3, 2012 at the age of eighty-two.
Dorothy was born on a farm near Charter Oak, Iowa. She was baptized in Christ at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hanover Township, Charter Oak and confirmed there on April 2, 1944, also at St. Paul. She received her education in a rural school near her home and at St. Pauls Lutheran School, Hanover Township, Charter Oak. On May 8, 1949, Dorothy was united in marriage to Edward Jepsen at St. Pauls Parsonage Hanover Township by Rev. Nagler. The couple made their home on a farm and were blessed with the birth of three sons.
Dorothy loved spending time with her family, babysitting her grandchildren and looking forward to the Christmas holiday and wrapping gifts. She enjoyed vegetable gardening, canning, cooking, baking bread, embroidering. In her leisure time she enjoyed word puzzles, Seek and Find, playing Chinese Checkers, Euchre, May I with family and friends. She also enjoyed fishing in Spirit Lake, Lake View and local ponds. Dorothy and Edward enjoyed dancing, especially Polka at the Five Mile House south of Westside and in Denison. In most recent years she enjoyed watching television. She was always fair and treated everyone the same.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edward in 2006, two brothers, Duane and Herbert Ackelbein and three sisters, Leona Lill, Erma Trulsen and Viola Kunze. Survivors include her three sons, Dennis Jepsen and his wife, Pat of Schleswig; Kevin Jepsen and his wife, Tama of Des Moines; and Marlon Jepsen of Charter Oak; six grandchildren, Bethany Jepsen, Cara Jepsen, Amanda McNeese, Paul Jepsen, Eric Jepsen and Michael Jepsen; and six great-grandchildren, Abigail McNeese, Calen Fee, Emma Dorhout, Elizabeth Fee, Keegan Fee and Jeremiah McNeese; other relatives and friends
