Doug Vaughn

November 12, 1964 — August 30, 2024

Douglas LaVern Vaughn was born November 12,1964 to Franklin “Douglas” Vaughn and Particia Ann (Clark)Vaughn in Denison, Iowa. Doug was an adorable blonde haired, blue-eyed boy and always a joy to be around!

He attended Denison Schools for the most part. While still in high school he joined the Iowa National Guard in 1982, he served proudly for 8 years. He graduated in 1983. He worked a couple of jobs before going to work at Dubuque Pack and later as Maintenance at IBP/Tyson.

On November 1,1986 Doug married Lori Jean Beermann Malone. Together they raised three beautiful daughters, Cristy Jo, Melissa Sue, and Vanessa Kay. They were the joy of his life!

Doug decided he wanted to try something different. He went to college to become a small plane mechanic. He became a Certified Propeller Technician for the Council Bluffs Airport. A job he enjoyed for many years.

In 2007 They decided to move back to the Denison area and bought a home in Deloit, Iowa where Doug would become licensed in Water Treatment.

Doug’s passion was music and was a self-taught musician. He also enjoyed spending time with Lori on their Harley going down the highway. He cherished the time he got to spend with his family, especially his grandson, Konnor.

In recent years, Doug had developed several serious health issues that he didn’t like to talk about much. He still tried to carry on as usual and joke his way through it as was his way. He passed away on August 30, 2024, at his home.

Doug was preceded in death by his daughter, Cristy Jo, his mother Patricia Vaughn, nephews Daniel Swanson and Jason Bauer, his In-Laws Helen and Carl Beermann, brothers in law Randy Beermann and Dale Meyer.

Those left to cherish Doug’s memory are his wife of almost 38 years, Lori Vaughn, daughters Melissa Malone and Vanessa (Aaron) McAdam and grandson Konnor McAdam, his father Doug Vaughn and friend Connie Mulligan, sisters CindiJo (Kevin) Bohm and Billie May (Mike) Bauer. Sisters- in- law Lois Meyer, Lanette (Larry) Malone, Cindy (John)Spymanski, Lisa (Ron) McWilliams. Brothers-in-law Robert (Nancy) Beermann, Ron (Carol) Beermann, Russell Beermann and Judy Gress, Richard (Lisha) Beermann and Ross Beermann. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Doug’s love of laughter, his dry sense of humor and his infectious smile (smirk) will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him!
