Douglas Henry Worley was born December 2, 1941, the son of Ray F. and Maria Sinow Worley. He passed away with his family by his side at home in Vail, Iowa, on Tuesday, January 10, 2012, after losing his battle to cancer at age 70.
Doug was born in Omaha, Nebraska, and received his education at South High School, graduating with the class of 1959. He began his career at Swift Packing House in Omaha and later moved to Vail, Iowa, and worked at Dubuque Packing Plant in Denison, Iowa, and also Farmland Foods in Denison, retiring from there in 2007. He was united in marriage to Patricia Tangeman on May 13, 1977, in South Dakota.
Doug enjoyed gardening, hunting, and going on fishing trips to Minnesota every year. He and Patricia traveled to Las Vegas many times through the years and as well as the local casinos. Doug was an avid Husker football fan and watched westerns and crime investigation shows on television. He was interested in collecting old coins and liked to read Louis LAmour novels. His dogs Junior and Dinkey were faithful canine companions of his for many years.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Maria; one sister, Betty; and two granddaughters, Danielle and Katrina. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; three daughters: Dawn and husband, Jamie; Angelaand husband, Mark; and Cheryl; one son, Brian; six grandchildren: Douglas; Luke, Jenna and Jesse, Noah, and Emily; two sisters: Maria and Roberta; one brother, Dallas and his wife, Marge; and one brother-in-law, Frank and his wife, Genevieve; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
