Drexel "Bud" Lochmiller

April 2, 1924 — May 31, 2011

Drexel "Bud" Lochmiller was born April 2, 1924, the son of John and Maude Wardell Lochmiller. He died at his home in Denison, Iowa, on Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at the age of eighty-seven.
Drexel grew up on a farm in Belltown, near Dow City, Iowa. He received his early education in a consolidated school near his home, graduating from Dow City High School with the class of 1941. He attended Tarkio College in Tarkio, Missouri, and after completing his education, he began farming. On October 4, 1943, he was united in marriage to Vera Browne in Hiawatha, Kansas. The couple made their home on a farm near Dow City. Drexel farmed for thirteen years before he began working for Farm Bureau Gas Company; then Gambles Hardware Store in Denison. He transferred to Emmetsburg, Iowa; as a manager of Gambles Store. He accepted a position as district manager with Moews Seed Company for a short time; and subsequently began working for Sherwin Williams Paint Store as a manager in Spencer, Iowa. He accepted a district manager position with Asgrow Seed, which was later purchased by Up-John Pharmaceuticals.
In his leisure time, he enjoyed watching the birds in the many birdhouses he made and hung in the trees in his yard. He was adventurous in planting many different varieties of plants around his home and garden. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, cherishing the time spent with his family. He was a member of the Grace Evangelical Free Church in Denison.
Drexel was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dennis; and brothers-in-law, Don; Vernon and his wife, Zeda; and Jamesand his wife, Azalea. Survivors include: his wife Vera; two daughters: Carol and her husband Carl; Deanna and her husband, Don; one son, Richard and his wife, Marge; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister: Betty; many other relatives and friends.
