Duane Kenneth Hollander was born on Mother’s Day, May 12, 1941, the son of Rudolph and Margaret Beerman Hollander. He passed away Friday, July 11, 2014, at the St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, at the age of seventy-three
Duane was born on a farm east of Buck Grove, Iowa where he grew up. He received his education in Washington Township Rural School #9 near his home and graduated from the Denison Community School with the class of 1959. After completing his education he helped on their family farm. He also worked for Virgil Nehls and other neighboring farmers. On September 30, 1962, he was united in marriage to Eunice Petersen at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa, by Rev. Summerfield from Dow City. Along with farming, he also worked for IBP for several years. He loved farming and was a firm believer in conservation.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, attending farm sales and especially enjoyed Saturday trips to the Denison Livestock Auction. He loved socializing with family and friends and was a friend to everyone he met. Duane was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Dow City
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Eileen in infancy. Survivors include is wife, Eunice; two sons, Brian and his significant other, Brandyl; David and his wife, Kristin; one daughter, Eileen; five grandchildren; and one sister, Bonnie and her husband, John; other relatives and friends.
