Earl (Butch) A. Wiebers

January 13, 1949 — September 29, 2016

Earl (Butch) Allen Wiebers was born January 13, 1949, the son of Earl and Ila Wiebers. After fighting a courageous battle with cancer, he passed away Thursday, September 29, 2016, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, Iowa, at the age of sixty-seven.
Butch was born in Denison, Iowa and grew up on the family farm four miles northwest of Westside. He was baptized and confirmed at the United Church of Christ in Westside. He received his education in the AR-WE-VA Community Schools, graduating with the class of 1967. Butch enlisted in the National Guard on June 18, 1967 and after serving six years with the guard, he was honorably discharged on April 23, 1973. Butch met Marna in 1969 and on September 27, 1970, they were united in marriage at St. John’s Lutheran Church near Adair, Iowa. The couple made their home in Deloit, Iowa and was blessed with the birth of two children.
Butch worked for IBP from 1971 until the hide plant closure in 1990. They purchased a grain and livestock farm east of Denison, where Butch pursued his love of farming until the time of his death. Butch was employed with the Denison Community Schools in the 1990s as a school bus driver, and later as a semi-truck driver for Kracjicek Inc.
Butch and Marna loved polka dancing in the early days. In the 1980s, he was an active member of the Deloit Volunteer Fire Department. Butch restored a 1967 Ford Galaxy and together he and Marna had fun driving it all over Iowa, entering in numerous car shows and poker runs. In his leisure time he enjoyed working on his antique tractors. Other hobbies included attending air shows, carpentry, fishing, and trapping. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents. Those remaining to cherish his memory include: his wife, Marna of Denison; one son, Matthew and one daughter, Angela; three sisters: Jean; Joannl and her husband, Richard, and Judy and her husband, Al; two sisters-in-law: Barb and her husband, Ervin, and Marilyn; many other relatives and friends.
