Earl A. Dozler

Earl Anton Dozler was born March 4, 1928 in Glidden, Iowa, the son of Edward and Teresa (Herbers) Dozler. He was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic faith. He received his early education from various Country Schools and then helped his father on the farm.

Earl was inducted into the United States Army on February 7, 1951 through the Selective Service at the rank of EI PVT (Private). He served with the 321st Signal Battalion in Mohringen, Germany where he was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal for his service. On January 23, 1953 he was given an honorable discharge with a rank of E3 PFC (Private First Class) and transferred to the Army Reserves for five years.

After returning home from service, Earl started working for Western Light and Telephone Company, now called Frontier, for about 35 years where he was a lineman and then supervisor until his retirement in 1987.

On February 1, 1954, Earl was united in marriage to Dorothy Nemitz at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison. To this union, they were blessed with four children: Lynn, Kathy, Laura, and Gary. They made their home in Denison.

Earl had a strong faith in his Lord and was a longtime member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Earl was also a member of the VFW. He was involved in Honor Guard, fundraisers and other activities within the VFW. On September 16, 2017, he went on a Brushy Creek Honor Flight to Washington D.C.

Earl enjoyed his fishing trips to Canada and Minnesota, traveling to Mexico with Dorothy, bus trips through the bank where they visited Canada, and every state except three, and his love for gardening. In earlier years, he also enjoyed going skating. He was a part of a card club and camping club where he made many memories camping with family and friends. He cherished his family more than anything and will be deeply missed.

Earl passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at Gracewell - Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, attaining the age of ninety-four years, two months, and eleven days. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Teresa Dozler; brother, Paul Dozler; and two sisters: Ruth and her husband Jim Kragel and Alice and her husband Silas Holst.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Dorothy Dozler of Denison; three daughters: Lynn Dozler and her special friend John Schweiger of Omaha, Kathy and her husband Mike Cook of Carroll, and Laura and her husband Robert Iversen of Newell; son, Gary Dozler and his wife Jodi of Harlan; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 19. 2022 at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison with a Rosary at 4:30 p.m. and Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 20, 2022 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison. Interment with Military Honors will be in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery in Denison. Memorials may be directed to the family.
