Edaline E. Boettger

Edaline Emma Eggert Boettger, daughter of Emma and William F. Eggert was born on a farm in Hanover Township. Section 35, Crawford County, Iowa, on April 10, 1923. She died on Monday, May 22, 2017, at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa, at the age of ninety-four.
Edaline and her twin, Edward, were baptized on June 5, 1923, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa, and later confirmed there on April 5, 1936. Edaline was born and raised on the farm. After graduating 8th grade, she worked at various places cleaning houses and caring for the people who lived there. Later she worked at the egg plant and McMahon’s Grocery in Denison. After her marriage, she worked when needed at Jo-Mart Steakhouse. Otherwise, she worked on the farm.
On April 23, 1944, Edaline was united in marriage to Arthur Boettger at the Lutheran parsonage in Denison with Pastor Carl W. Schmidt officiating. Edaline and Art celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1994. They celebrated 68 years of marriage in 2012. Edaline and Art lived 15 years on a farm near Kenwood which they rented from Herman Tebbe. In April, 1959, they purchased a farm in Paradise #1 and they moved their family there in 1960. Edaline loved the farm and always spent a lot of time outside. In 1977, Edaline and Art purchased a house at 922 West Broadway in Denison and lived there until February 15, 2011, when they moved to Silveridge Assisted Living in Denison. Edaline loved her family and farming. Even after they moved to town, she went to the farm every day with Art. During the winter, she would embroider, bake and do word search puzzles. Edaline embroidered a quilt for each of her four children and a baby quilt for each of her twelve grandchildren. Edaline was an awesome cook and was noted for her homemade buns, cream chicken, sugar cookies and apple pies.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Art in 2012. Survivors include three daughters; Janice and her husband, Arlen; Joyce and her husband, Curtis, and JoAnn and her husband, Fred; one son, Jerry and his wife, Patti; twelve grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; two great-great- grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Lester and his wife, Frances; two sisters, Loretta and Jeanie; other relatives and friend
