Edith Bunde

Edith Florence Bunde was born March 24, 1916, the daughter of Herbert and Effie Jackson Jeckell. She died on Saturday, December 15, 2012, at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa, at the age of ninety-six.
Edith was born in Lamberton, Minnesota, and received her education in country schools near her home and earned her GED later through a correspondence course. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Lamberton, Minnesota. Edith was united in marriage to Ralph Bunde on September 23, 1939, in Storm Lake, Iowa. The couple was blessed with the birth of three sons. They farmed in Minnesota for several years before moving to Sac City, Iowa. In the late 1960s they moved to an acreage north of Arion, Iowa, when Ralph began working at IBP. Later they moved to another acreage near Denison before finally settling in Dow City, Iowa. Edith worked at Eventide for a few years when they moved to Denison. Being very ambitious and having an entrepreneurial spirit, Edith purchased the Dairy Sweet in Dow City at age 55 and ran it for eight years before retiring.
Edith was a caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, ceramics, and playing cards with family and friends. Edith moved to Eventide in Denison in April 2010. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Dow City.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Edgar Ingham; her husband, Ralph in 2010; three brothers: Edward, Francis, Albert; and one brother in infancy. Survivors include three sons: Francis Bunde of Dow City; Michael Bunde and his wife, Irene of Denison; Philip Bunde and his wife, Brenda of Eagle Lake, Minnesota; three grandchildren: Christopher Bunde and his wife, Suzanne; James Bunde and his wife, Mali; and Tonya Schatz and her husband, Christopher; three stepgrandchildren: Philip, Beth, and Heather; four great-grandchildren: Alaina, Lance, Natalie, and Logan; and other relatives.
