Edna Bardiena Meyer (Nee Kuyper) 88, of Denison, IA went to her Lord on January 1, 2017 at her home in Denison,IA. Edna was born on August 31, 1928 in Perkins, IA to the late Gerrit and Maria (nee Hulshof) Kuyper. She attended and graduated from Plato Township country school. Later obtaining her GED in 1970. This was an important personal achievement for her and her children. She was baptized as an infant and was a member of the First Reformed Church of Carmel, IA. She met and married Earnest S. Eisma on March 15, 1949. They began their life together on a farm near Ireton, IA. She became a member of the First Reformed Church of Ireton. They had four daughters Lorraine, Janice, Audrey and Susan. Earnest died of cancer in 1967 at the age of 42yrs. Edna and her 4 daughters continued to live on the farm until 1979. She and her extended family enjoyed many summers at her mobile home in Okoboji, IA. The family time in Okoboji has provided many wonderful memories. She met her second husband, Clayton C. Meyer at Okoboji . They married on June 29th, 1979. She and Clayton lived in Denison, IA until the time of her death. She was an active member of the Presbyterian Church of Denison then the Grace Evangelical Free Church of Denison and her community. Edna was on dialysis for 8 years at the Davita Harlan Dialysis Center. Edna worked tirelessly in an attempt to bring a Dialysis Center to Denison, hoping to improve the services available to the Denison community. She and Clayton delivered Meals on Wheels for over 20 yrs. They were very active in the Denison Senior Center. She enjoyed bingo, crafts, reading books and Soudoko puzzles. She loved a good game of “31” with her family, always making the game full of fun and laughter. She was a woman of great faith and courage. This was an attribute instilled in her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted Mother and Grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Earnest, her parents, one brother and sister in law Gysbert (Johanna) Kuyper, sister and brother in law Nellie (Lawrence)Davvison, sister and brother in law Elvina (Vernon)Brunsting ,sister Lunnetta (at birth), brother in law and sister in law Marvin (Janae)Meyer, sister in law and brother in law Shirley (Clifford) Spack, sister in law JoAnn Meyer, son -in-law Leonard Cenatiempo and stepdaughter Marla McKee.
She is survived by her husband Clayton Meyer, her children Lorraine Cenatiempo of Las Vegas, NV, Janice (Dr. John) Day of Green Bay, WI, Audrey (David) Batchelor of Plano, Tx and Susan (Peter) Demuth of Milford, IA, her step-children Clark Meyer of Denison, IA, Lisha (Richard) Beerman of Dow City, IA and Tammy (Bill) Stouffer of Reed Springs, MO, her 11 grandchildren Dr. Courtney (Andrew) Haight of Las Vegas, NV , Marisa (Joshua) Kunde of Gilbert, AZ, Aaron (Gina) Day of Green Bay , WI, Caleb (Jordan) Day of Green Bay, WI , Emily (Gabriel) Day of Minneapolis, MN, Byranna Batchelor of Plano, TX, Lyndsey Batchelor of Plano, TX, Myriah Batchelor of Plano, TX, Jessica (Amber) Miner of Coeur d’Alene, ID, Travis Miner of Milford, IA and Brandi Demuth of Coeur d’ Alene, ID, step-grandchildren Keith (Karla) Meyer of Omaha, NB, Casi (Scott) Vandemark of Woodbine, IA, ,Kayla (Dylan) Krohnke of Schelswig, IA, Shayla Sildy of Branson,MO, Tyrell Ramsom of Branson,MO, four great grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren, her sister Violet (Melvin)Prins of Lakewood, CA , brother in law Lyle Meyer of Denison,IA brother–in-law and sister in law Eugene (Betty Jean) Eisma of Inwood, IA and numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation with the family will be on Friday, January 6th from 4-7p.m. at the Huebner Funeral Home Services will be on Saturday, January 7th at 1000 a.m. at the Huebner Funeral Home with internment in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery of Ireton 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Edna’s name to the Grace Evangelical Free Church 2491 Lincoln Way, Denison,IA or the Davita Harlan Dialysis at 1213 Garfield Avenue Harlan,IA
