Edwin M Stockfleth

Edwin Martin Stockfleth was born January 4, 1917, the son of Anton and Bertha Stockfleth. He died Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at the Montclair Nursing Home in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of ninety-nine.
Ed was born on a farm near Danbury, Iowa. As a small boy, he moved with his parents to a farm near Arion, Iowa, and then to a farm near Charter Oak. He grew up in the Charter Oak area and received his education in a rural school near his home. Growing up on the farm, he helped his family and neighbors with farming duties. In later years, he moved to a farm near Denison. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church in 1932. On August 30, 1939, he was united in marriage to Malinda Brocksen in the Zion Lutheran Parsonage in Denison. The couple settled on farms in Crawford and Woodbury Counties and was blessed with the birth of two children. In 1983, the couple retired and moved to Charter Oak.
He was a strong willed man with good German character. He was devoted to his Lord and Savior and served his church through his membership at Immanuel Lutheran Church as elder, usher and church custodian for many years. Ed was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Soldier Township, and a member of the Lutheran Layman League from 1954 to 2008, receiving a plaque for his extended membership of 54 years. Ed also enjoyed socializing with other members in Dart Ball Tournaments with other churches. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He especially enjoyed being with his grand-sons and great-grandsons. He enjoyed socializing with family and friends while playing cards, listening to music, watching mysteries, Bonanza and frequently watched baseball cheering on his favorite teams, the Dodgers and the Braves.
Ed moved to Omaha eight years ago at the age of 91 to be closer to his daughter. He integrated well as he enjoyed the Montclair Senior Center near his home and had many friends to socialize with. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Soldier Township, Iowa, and became a member of the Divine Shepherd Lutheran Church in Omaha last year.
Edwin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Malinda; one son, Byron as an infant; his sister Alvera and brother Robert. Survivors include his daughter, Marlene and her husband, Elvin of Omaha, Nebraska; one grandson, Mark and his wife, Renee of Omaha, Nebraska; three great-grandchildren, Zachary, Adam and Aaron; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
