Eileen Auen

Eileen May Auen was born May 15, 1928, the daughter of Theodore and Alverta Scheer Hauschildt. She passed away at her home on Tuesday, July 11, 2011, in Denison, Iowa, at the age of 83.
Eileen was born in Ute, Iowa, attending Danbury and Mapleton schools in her early education and high school in Ida Grove, Iowa. She managed the Farmland lunch room for five years, worked as a nurses aid at Eventide, and managed the Sunrise Campground in Storm Lake, Iowa, for many summers. She was united in marriage to Maylen LaRue Strong and to this union two children were born, Barbara and Steven. After Maylen passed away, she later married Wallace Auen in Storm Lake, Iowa, on April 12, 1951. They were blessed with the birth of five children: Connie, Patty, Sandy, Jim, and Michael.
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother that lived a happy life. She loved children and babysat for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Activities she enjoyed included quilting, board games, camping, ceramics, flower gardening, and traveling to Texas. She was a baseball fan and followed the Chicago Cubs. She even played baseball in Ida Grove in her earlier years. Antiquing, garage sales, and remodeling houses were other favorite pastimes of hers.
Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Maylen; two sons: Michael and Steven; and one sister, Betty. She is survived by her husband, Wallace; four daughters: Barbara; Connie and her husband, Randy; Patty and her husband Eddie; Sandy and her husband, Dave; and one son, Jim; sixteen grandchildren; twenty five great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one brother, Wilbur and his wife, Margery; four sisters: Leola; Deloris; Yvonne and her husband, Richard; and Joan, other relatives and friends.
