Eleanor A. Lindstrom

March 9, 1927 — May 18, 2015

Eleanor Ann Schwanz Lindstrom was born March 9, 1927 in Wall lake, Iowa the daughter of Louie and Grace Schwanz. At the age of four years, she moved with her parents to a farm southeast of Odebolt, continuing to make her home there. She attended rural school Wheeler #9, and later graduated from the Odebolt High School with the class of 1944. Later in life she continued her education by taking some college courses locally.
Eleanor was united in marriage with Wesley Lindstrom on December 31, 1949, at the First Presbyterian Church in Odebolt, Iowa. They made their home in Kiron, and were blessed with one son, Clayton.
Eleanor and Wes were owners of Lindstrom Truck Line. Due to Wesley’s failing health, they sold the business in 1965. Eleanor obtained her Real Estate Brokers license in 1964, and continued that business until after Wesley’s death. Eleanor was office manager for the Huebner Funeral Home from 1988 thru 1990. She was a bookkeeper for various business’ in Kiron, and was City Clerk for 42 years, retiring in January 2011. Eleanor was a long time member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #383, where she was president and treasurer for many years. She also served as Vice President of KELM Inc. Eleanor was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Odebolt, serving as Elder, treasurer, secretary of the renovation committee, and served on the Pastor Nominating Committee. She also served on the Magistrate Appointment Board of Crawford County for many years.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her mother in 1966 and her father in 1997; her husband Wesley in 1992; one grandson, Jacob in 1999; step-mother Hilda; step-brother, Orvill and his wife, Ilo. Survivors include one son, Clayton and his wife, Abigayle; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a dear, close friend Warren “Swede”.
