Eleanore Miller

July 3, 1919 — September 5, 2013

Eleanore Emma Alma Schramm was born on the third of July in the year of 1919. The fireworks that year must have been spectacular to welcome such a fine human being into this world.
She grew up in Denison with her parents, Ella & Ed Schramm, five sisters: Hatti, Marie, Vera, Lorranie, Irene and one brother, Eddie.
In spite of growing up during some mighty hard times, mom always told positive stories of her early years -- never complaining, which shouldn't surprise anyone.
She married Clarence Miller on the 4th of July, 1937 -- the day after her 18th birthday. They were married for 43 years until dad's death in 1980. Their frisky friendship produced five kids: Terry, Elaine, Barb, Marilyn, and Mark. Mom & Dad farmed until they moved to town and bought the U & I Cafe in 1958. Remember those hot cinnamon rolls!?
Eleanore absolutely loved life. She took the good and the bad with uncommon grace. Her powers of observation and interest in nearly everything were exceptional.
If you are reading this, you know how she touched people's lives, yours. Her charm and wit were contagious, even after a stroke slowed her down.
Her mind and body served her well for nine decades but finally couldn't keep up with her active pace. She still went to water aerobics five days a week when she was 93! And a sharper card player I have not met.
The body may be gone but the memory of this dear woman will permeate our lives until our own end. Remember her with a big smile.
