Elizabeth “Beth” Hamblen was born on June 4, 1984, at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison to James Phillip and Barbara (Wieland). She was baptized and confirmed at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison. Beth attended Denison Community School and graduated with the Class of 2003. A passionate sports fan, she loved cheering on the Monarchs.
After graduation, Beth attended Wesco Industries and became involved in the Special Olympics, competing in her wheelchair and earning numerous gold medals—an achievement she and her family took great pride in. She had a deep love for animals, especially her cocker spaniels, with her most recent companion being Bailey.
Beth was a member of the Denison Diamonds 4-H Club for many years. She enjoyed participating in craft fairs, where she sold her handmade potholders. She also found joy in word searches and was an enthusiastic supporter of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Kansas City Chiefs, and Creighton Bluejays.
Beth passed away due to medical complications in Omaha, Nebraska, on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at the age of 40 years, nine months, and nine days. She was preceded in death by her father, James “Phil” Hamblen; her paternal grandparents, James and Cecilia Hamblen; and her maternal grandparents, Robert and Evelyn Wieland.
