Elma Jensen was born February 20, 1921, the daughter of William and Bertha Custer Van Dusen. She died Sunday, May 16, 2010, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of eighty-nine.
Elma was born in Vail, Iowa, where she grew up and received her education. She graduated from Vail High School. On September 29, 1940, she was united in marriage to Robert Jensen in Dakota City, Nebraska. The couple settled in Denison, Iowa, and Robert was drafted by the U.S. Army. Upon completing his military duties and receiving an Honorable Discharge, he returned to Denison where they were blessed with the birth of three children.
In 1955 the family moved to Anaheim, California, then Garden Grove, California, where they settled for 17 years before moving to Placentia, California. In 1986 they returned to Denison, and then moved to Charter Oak, Iowa, in 1994.
She was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. Spending time with her family brought her great joy.
Elma was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Robert. Survivors include two sons: Robert and his wife, Connie; and Richard; and one daughter, Janice and her husband, George; five grandchildren: Adam, Katie, Dwane, Candice, and Tammi; and seven great-grandchildren.
