Elsie "Babe" Christenson

Elsie Violet Christenson was born January 12, 1933, in Arion, Iowa, the daughter of George Brown. She passed away Thursday, February 28, 2019, at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa, at the age of eighty-six.
Elsie received her education in a rural school at Arion, Iowa and subsequently graduated from Denison High School with the class of 1951. On April 25, 1952, Elsie was united in marriage to Wayne Christenson in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and the couple settled in Dow City, Iowa. Elsie became a resident of Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison in August of 2016.
Her faith was very meaningful to Elsie and she was very involved with the United Methodist Church in Dow City. She held Bible studies in her house, prayed for those in need from her prayer list and served many funeral lunches. Reading her Bible was important to her and always made her feel good. Camping at Storm Lake was a favorite activity and they would keep their camper there throughout the summer. She also found great pleasure in walking. A very elegant woman and loved by many, Elsie was a forthright person that enjoyed her family as well as Lucy, her daughter’s dog. She always had coffee, cookies and brownies for her visitors.
Elsie was preceded in death by her father; Elsie, who helped raise her; her husband, Wayne in 1998; one son, Rickey in 1954; and two brothers, Donald and his wife, Dorothy and Walter and his wife, Pauline. Survivors include: three daughters, Deb, and Darla and her husband, Byron, and Denise and her husband, Terry; a “special” son, Zachary and his wife, Jennifer; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
