Erma Lucile Meggers was born March 19, 1913, the daughter of Otto and Emma Rath. She passed away Monday, February 12, 2018, at Southfield Wellness Community in Webster City, Iowa, at the age of one hundred four.
Erma was born on a farm south of Denison and was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison where she remained a life-long member. She received her education in a rural school and one year at Zion Lutheran School.
On December 21, 1932, Erma was united in marriage to Harry Meggers at the Lutheran Parsonage in Denison by Rev. Frese. They settled on the family farm and were blessed with two daughters. In December of 1988, they moved to Denison. Harry passed away March 19, 1996. Erma remained living in Denison until moving to Webster City in May of 2014 to be near her daughters and entered Southfield Wellness Care Center in September of 2014.
Erma enjoyed helping Harry during their years on the farm, working in her garden, cooking and baking, especially pies. They also enjoyed traveling.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Wilma and her husband, Harold; sons-in-law, Robert and Arlen; and granddaughter, Annette. Survivors include: her daughters, Norma and Lois; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
The family suggests memorials be given to Zion Lutheran Church or a favorite charity.
