Esther was born on a farm in Hanover Township. She was baptized and later confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Hanover Township, in Charter Oak, Iowa. On June 8, 1952, she was united in marriage to Theodore (Ted) Hall at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa, where they were devoted members.
