Esther M Remmes

Esther Marie Remmes was born October 8, 1929, the daughter of Herman and Anna Timm Wellner. She died Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of eighty-four.
Esther was born on a farm near Charter Oak, Iowa where she grew up. She received her education in a rural school near her home. She was baptized October 13, 1929, at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Charter Oak by Rev. Amstein, and later confirmed April 18, 1943, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Soldier Township, Charter Oak. May 18, 1963, Esther was united in marriage to Robert Remmes at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Charter Oak. The couple made their home in Charter Oak was blessed with birth of two children.
Esther worked at a restaurant in Ute, Iowa for a short time. She managed the Charter Oak senior apartments and cleaned houses for several families in the area. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, flowers, canning apples, and baking bread. She also enjoyed watching mysteries, nonviolent action films and Wheel of Fortune. Sunday afternoon card games with her sisters was an event she always enjoyed. Esther was very proud of her granddaughter, Aurelia and all her accomplishments. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Charter Oak and was involved with different church organizations, the Charter Oak Clubettes and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
Esther is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; son, Kevin; three sisters, Wilhelmina and her husband, Earl; Marie and her husband, Robert; Dorothy; four brothers, Herman and his wife, Irene; August and Martin; and a brother in infancy; three brothers-in-law, Hubert; Benny and Gehart. Survivors include: her daughter, Lynn and her husband, Steve; one granddaughter, Aurelia; three sisters, Helen, Ruth and Emma; one brother, Ernest; brother-in-law, Delbert, other relatives and friends.
