December 19, 1954 — November 19, 2011

Eugene Allen Schneider was born December 29, 1954, in Denison, Iowa, the son of Vincent and Frieda Lorenzen Schneider. He passed away at his home in Carroll, on Saturday, November 19, 2011, at the age of fifty-six.
Gene was baptized in Christ on March 13, 1955, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, and later confirmed on March 30, 1969, at Zion. He received his education at the Manilla Community Schools, graduating with the class of 1973. After completing his education, he farmed with his father for a short time and then moved to Gowrie, Iowa, where he was employed by Buske Industries for eleven years as a production welder. On October 22, 1983, he was united in marriage to Teresa Granahan in Gowrie. The couple raised two children, Joshua and Jamie.
He then went to work for Fevold Seed Farms where he helped in the production, processing, and shipment of seed corn and soybeans. In 2001, Gene moved back to the Denison area where he helped his brother Dale on the farm, followed by employment with Iowa Coolers in Westside. In 2008, he moved to Carroll, Iowa.
Gene was a hard working man who enjoyed the solitude of the outdoors, especially deer hunting, fishing, and golfing. He was an avid NASCAR fan and closely followed the local drivers at the Shelby County Speedway in Harlan, attending as many races as possible. He liked to watch sports on ESPN, especially NHL hockey. Bonanza and hunting shows were some of his other favorites. He also enjoyed playing cards, woodworking, and shooting pool.
Eugene was preceded in death by his father, Vincent in March of 2000. Survivors include his son, Joshua; daughter, Jamie and special friend, Kevin; mother, Frieda; three brothers: Terry; Dale and wife, Kathy; and Merle and his wife, Susan; two aunts, Dorothy and Ruby; other relatives and friends.
