Fenton Robert Lawler was born April 20, 1933, the son of Joseph and Charlott Lawler. He died Thursday, September 22, 2016, at the St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll, Iowa, at the age of eighty-three.
Fenton was born in Carroll, Iowa and received his education in St. Ann’s Catholic Schools, graduating with the class of 1953. He entered the United States Army and serving during the Korean War and two years in Germany. On November 21, 1959, Fenton was united in marriage to Elizabeth Kohorst at St. John’s Catholic Church in Arcadia by Fr. Stork. The couple made their home in Westside, Iowa and was blessed with the birth of two daughters. Fenton was employed by Farmers Co-operative for 31 years. He also worked for Dick Blair Deliver Meat and Bob Adams delivering cars.
Fenton was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. He was a devoted friend who loved helping others and had a great sense of humor. He loved working on antique cars and classic cars, and driving them in various parades. He also enjoyed tinkering in the yard and around the house. In his leisure time Fenton enjoyed socializing with family, friends and his Westside neighbors. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Vail, Iowa.
Fenton was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mary; and two brothers, Donald and William . Survivors include his wife, Betty; two daughters, Lori and her husband, Rick; and Monica and her husband, Joe ; seven grandchildren; and two sistesr-in-law, Jean and Celine Mae; other relatives and friends.
