Floyd V. Boger

Floyd Victor Boger was born October 25, 1932, the son of Hans and Amanda Boger. He died November 21, 2014 at his home in Denison, Iowa at the age of eighty-two.
Floyd was born on a farm near Denison, Iowa where he grew up, receiving his education in the Denison Community High School and graduating with the class of 1950. After completing his education, he farmed with his mother before entering the US Army, September 21, 1953. During his service to his country, he was a mechanic serving with the 305th Signal Company of the 10th infantry division in Korea. After completing his military duties, Floyd was honorably discharged in 1955 and returned home to help farm.
September 8, 1957, Floyd was united in marriage to Benita Hildebrandt at St. John Lutheran Church in Charter Oak by the Rev. C.W. Schmidt. The couple was blessed with the birth of nine children. They settled in Crawford County where Floyd farmed with his father-in-law. Still farming, he also worked for IBP and for World Wide Meats. He then worked as a custodian at the Crawford County Court House and retired after 20 years of service. After his retirement, he worked for the next 18 years for the Crawford County Secondary Road Department.
In his leisure time, Floyd enjoyed socializing with family and friends at: neighborhood birthday parties, Saturday night races, local livestock auctions, Polka Dances and Cronks Restaurant. He enjoyed the outdoors and could be found just sitting by the house admiring the neighborhood scenery. His favorite TV program was the Carson Show and he was the proud owner of recently purchased antique tractor, and had a passion for collecting toy tractors.
Floyd was preceded in death by a sister, Donnabelle in infancy, his parents, a son, Steven and two son-in-laws,Larry Wiggins and Chuck Shives; one sister-in-law, Jackie Henry. Survivors include his wife, Benita of Denison; four daughters, Debra and her husband, Steven; Lynne; Sharon and her husband, Randy; Susan and her husband, Stacy; four sons, Keith and his wife, Debra; Kevin and Denise; Dennis and David; Michael and his wife, Darcy; 20 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
