Frances Elaine Clausen, daughter of Eldo and Henrietta (Petersen) Hollander, was born June 29, 1941, on a farm in Crawford County, Iowa. She grew up on the family farm in Ida County and was baptized and confirmed at Friedens Evangelical and Reformed Church in Schleswig. She attended a country school at Hayes #8. She then continued her education at Schleswig Community School, graduating with the Class of 1959. After graduation, Frances attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake for a year and then worked at REC in Denison until she started to raise her family.
On May 21, 1961, Frances was united in marriage with Delbert Clausen at United Church of Christ in Schleswig. The couple settled on the family farm near Schleswig and were blessed with three children: Kim, Trent and Steph.
Frances was a member of the United Church of Christ in Schleswig. She enjoyed going to her grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's school and sporting events, reading books, playing cards at Cousin's Card Club and bridge club. Frances liked working outside, mowing lawn and tending her flower and vegetable garden; When helping on the farm, she was the best at driving the grain cart. Frances was famous for her cut out sugar cookies and chocolate malts. She also enjoyed golfing on Tuesdays and taking vacations with friends.
On Tuesday, March 8, 2022, Frances passed away at the Buffett Cancer Center at UNMC in Omaha, Nebraska, attaining the age of 80 years, 8 months and 8 days.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers Doug Hollander and Craig Hollander.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 60 years Delbert Clausen of Schleswig; three children: Kim Kragel and husband Neil of Schleswig; Trent Clausen and wife Shari of Charter Oak; and Stephanie Arkfeld and husband Aaron of Denison; grandchildren: Clint Kragel and wife Shana, Adam Kragel and wife Christine, Tarin Clausen and special friend Corey Stapleton, Hunter Clausen, Allana Arkfeld and Lance Arkfeld; four great-grandchildren: Lucas and Ben Kragel, Mason and Chloe Kragel; and three sisters-in-law: Arlis (Ed) Neddermeyer, Arlene Hollander and Kris Hollander.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 14, 2022, at the United Church of Christ in Schleswig with interment in Morgan Cemetery at Schleswig. Visitation is on Sunday, March 13, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Huebner Funeral Home in Schleswig.
