Frederick Eugene Bachman was born May 20, 1954, in Denison, Iowa, the son of Ernest and Iona Bachman. He passed away Monday, September 9, 2019, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of sixty-five.
Fred was baptized in Christ and later confirmed his faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig, Iowa, April 23, 1985. He received his education in the Denison Community Schools and graduated from Denison High School with the class of 1972. On May 19, 1979, Fred was united in marriage to Marlene Jepsen at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. The couple settled in Denison after their marriage for two years before moving to an acreage near Schleswig and ultimately moving into Schleswig in October of 2018.
After high school graduation, Fred was employed at World Wide Meats in Denison. He then went on to work at Dubuque Pack before working at Farmland for 28 years until his retirement.
Football was his passion with the Pittsburgh Steelers being his favorite team and having many of their tee shirts. He enjoyed watching football with his sons and watching his granddaughters softball games. Watching westerns, especially Maverick and Gunsmoke, deer hunting, fishing and traveling to Branson brought him many hours of pleasure in his leisure time.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Iona. Survivors include: his wife, Marlene; two sons, Andrew and his wife, Anne, and Cory and his wife, Chelsea; four grandchildren, Neilla Belle, Averi, Eliana and Merrick; two sisters, Rose, and Kathy; other relatives and friends.
