Frederick Walter Neumann was born on January 4, 1941. He was the second born of nine children to Bertha (Thies) and Carl Neumann. Fred was born and grew up on the home farm place near Denison. He was baptized, confirmed and married at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison where he also attended school and completed eight years of education. Fred married Rodonna Rothe July 7, 1963, and four boys were born to this union. Fred and Rodonna lived in Denison while he worked at the local creamery. After moving to Westside, Fred worked as an agronomist and manager at Cal-Car Farm Service. He was passionate about his work and spent countless hours assisting customers. In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseback riding, feeding the birds and working in his garden.
Fred loved his wife, who unselfishly took care of him in his later years when he was unable to walk and see clearly. He was proud of his sons, and loved their wives, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Above all, Fred loved God. He read the Bible eight times and spent many hours in prayer. He enjoyed listening to Gospel music and welcomed the thought of leaving this world and meeting Christ Jesus face to face.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Bertha Neumann, his in-laws, Elmer and Anna Rothe, and two brothers-in-law, Jim Fredericks and Wayne Schroeder. Survivors include: his wife, Rodonna; four sons, Greg (Amber), Randy(Monica), Kevin (Paula), and Ryan (Kate); 14 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; brothers, Ken (Joyce), Bill (Beth), Dale (Maureen); sisters, Carolyn, Kathy, Colleen, Karlen (Russ), and Maxine (Steve); many more relatives and friends.
