Gael Sue Ladehoff was born March 25, 1947, at Denison, Iowa, the daughter of Harvey “Earl” and Delphine Shives. She passed away Friday, January 19, 2018, at her home in Council Bluffs, Iowa, at the age of seventy.
Gael received her education in the Denison Community Schools and graduated from Denison High School with the Class of 1965. She was united in marriage to Louis W. Ladehoff September 28, 1990, at Woodbine, Iowa.
Gael’s greatest passion in life was being a caregiver for not only her own family but for the disabled she cared for as part of her employment with various agencies. She became particularly close to Kelly Grace Briggs to whom Gael provided care for over a decade until Kelly’s death in 2016.
Family was very important to Gael as she enjoyed spending time with her parents when they were alive and now with her children and grandchildren. Traveling to Wyoming and Yellowstone with her grandson Brandan and to Okoboji with her daughter Michelle were special events for her. Gael enjoyed watching the old programs on television, especially westerns. She also was a fan of the cooking shows and as soon as the program was over, she went to her kitchen to make the food dish she had just seen prepared. However, to her dismay, they never turned out as expected.
Gael was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louis; and Kelly. Survivors include: two daughters, Michelle and her husband, Steve; and Raquel and her fiance, Jeff; three grandchildren, Brandan; Tyler and his fiancee, Mariah; and Jordan and her fiance, Dallas; three sisters, Kathy and her husband, Larry; Leah and her husband, Dan; and Corrine and her husband, Kevin; two brothers, Mark; and Brian and his wife, Terri; two sisters-in-law, Donna and her husband, Ronnie; and Bernice; one brother-in-law, Donald; other relatives and friends.
