Gary L. Burk

Gary Lynn Burk was born in Lake City, Iowa, June 29, 1941, the son of Henry and Dorothy Pankey Burk. He died at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital, Friday, July 18, 2014 at the age of seventy-three.
Gary received his education in Carroll, graduating from high school with the class of 1959. After completing his education, he was united in marriage to Judy Anthofer on May 18, 1960 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Carroll. The couple settled in the Carroll area and was blessed with the birth of 6 children. He worked for various farmers in and around Carroll before going to work for IBP. After his injury at IBP, he did long haul trucking and started the Sunshine Trucking company in 1987. He eventually began doing truck repair and in 1996, started the Sunshine Repair.
Throughout his life, he enjoyed helping people believing that God put him on this earth to offer assistance to everyone in need. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who cared for his family with diligence and love. Assisting his family with their needs was a prime enjoyment and always welcomed company, especially family. During the Christmas holidays he always brought home the biggest Christmas trees that could be found and delighted in watching his family decorate it. He enjoyed animals of all kinds, especially dogs and cats. In his leisure time, enjoyed visiting with family and friends, fishing and watching old westerns on TV as well as Law and Order SVU.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Lisa and one sister, Ganice. Survivors include: his wife, Judy, one daughter, Terry and her special friend, Shamar; four sons, Rex and his wife, Deborah, Robby, Roy and his wife, Lisa; and Randy and his wife, Tiffany; and an extended son, Miguel and his special friend Lilly; fourteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Larry, and Dennis; two sisters, Renae and her husband, David, and LaRae and her husband, Jon; other relatives and many.
