Gary Wayne Terwilleger was born August 2, 1944, the son of John and Eleanor Terrell Terwilleger. He died Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at his home in Denison, Iowa, at the age of seventy-one.
Gary was born in Dunlap, Iowa. After his education, Gary worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad where he was a loyal employee for 45 years until retiring early due to health reasons. October 12, 2015, Gary was baptized and accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior.
Gary was known for his love of the outdoors where he enjoyed squirrel hunting, mushroom hunting, camping, and fishing in Spirit Lake and Canada. He loved the trips he took sightseeing to Reno Nevada, South Dakota and visiting the old farm house reminiscing about old times. In his spare time he enjoyed watching John Wayne movies. Gary was very proud of the recognition he received for stopping a train that prevented an accident. Gary was an easy going person who liked to tease and humor others. He was a very kind and caring man to everyone and would offer help to anyone that was in need.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Tracy Rose. Survivors include his fianc, Karylin; two daughters: Kelly and her husband, James and Glenda and special friend, Mark Cunard; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, John and his wife, Sandy; one sister, Nancy and her husband, Richard; special friend, Kathy; many other family members.
