Gary F. Wiegel was born on February 27, 1948, in Denison, Iowa, to the late Roy and Frances (Reincke) Wiegel. Gary lived a life marked by dedication to service, a strong work ethic, and a passion for the simple joys of life.
Gary enlisted in the United States Air Force on February 16, 1967, and served until his honorable discharge on February 12, 1971. He was united in marriage to Connie Christiansen on November 20, 1971.
His time in the military instilled in him a sense of duty and pride that he carried throughout his life. After returning from his service, Gary embarked on a diverse career path that reflected his industrious spirit. He began working as a lugger at Farmland, transitioning to a mechanic at Hawk Crampton and later at D & L Service Station. Gary also contributed his skills in maintenance at Crawford County Hospital. His commitment to hard work continued as he drove trucks for K & B Transfer. He recently retired from driving trucks for Novus Ag out of Charter Oak.
In addition to his professional achievements, Gary had a range of interests that brought him joy. He delighted in driving around to take in the beauty of the scenery, he was an avid fan of anything related to Elvis Presley, and found pleasure in watching Western movies, particularly those featuring John Wayne. His love for oldies music was a constant source of entertainment and nostalgia.
Gary was also proud to be a member of the American Legion Homer Hall Post 66, where he connected with fellow veterans and enjoyed community camaraderie.
