Glenna Marie Ferrone was born in Wall Lake, Iowa November 3, 1925, the daughter of Gustave and Amanda Dumdei, she was raised by her aunt Minnie and husband John Peters on their farm near Wall Lake. A long-time resident of Sergeant Bluff, Glenna passed away Sunday, September 30, 2018, at Touchtone Healthcare Community in Sioux City, Iowa, at the age of ninety-two.
She attended and graduated from Odebolt High School with the class of 1943 and was united in marriage to Danny Ferrone August 15, 1953. Glenna furthered her education at Morningside College in Sioux City, graduating with a bachelor's degree in 1972 and earning her master's degree in 1975. She began her teaching career in a rural school near her home in Iowa. Years later after completing her college degree, she did substitute teaching for a short time in Sioux City and retired from Grant Elementary School in Sioux City.
Glenna's passion was geneology and she also enjoyed collecting stamps and coins, crocheting and making quilts. She considered traveling a learning experience and enjoyed trips to Europe, China, Israel, Mexico, Caribbean, Panama Canal, Italy and France. Socializing with family and friends, musicals, 700 Club presentations and going to different churches and sampling the ethnic foods brought her many memorable moments.
Preceding her in death were her parents; two daughters, Janie and Diane; one son, Alan; and four brothers, Donald, Louis, Frederick and Alfred. Survivors include: one son, Philip and his wife Wendy; six grandchildren, Mark, Michelle, Jackie, Trish, Jessica and Kevin; five great-grandchildren, Felisha, Taylor, Alexis, Chance and Dominic; other relatives and friends.
