Helen M. Comstock

March 18, 1919 — October 4, 2011

Helen Marie Comstock was born March 18, 1919, the daughter of Martin and Bertha Brodersen Harm of Denison. She died on Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at the Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa, at the age of 92.
Helen attended country school in Crawford County and was a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison where she was baptized on June 8, 1919, and confirmed on March 29, 1931. She was united in marriage to Glen Comstock on September 30, 1945, at Zion Lutheran in Denison, and to this union two children were born. The couple made their home on a farm southeast of Denison for eight years before moving to Denison.
Helen was employed by J.C. Penney for over 25 years. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church having served on the Evening Guild and Ladies Aid for many years as well as the Hospital Auxiliary. She moved to the Reed House in Denison in 2000 and from 2001 until her death, she was a resident at Eventide in Denison.
Helen was a gracious and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished time with her family and friends. She touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity. She spent much of her time watching her grandchildren grow up and provided them with memories that will remain with them for a lifetime. She loved her card clubs, soap operas, baking cinnamon rolls and German pancakes, and spending quality time with her neighbors that were like family to her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glen in 1977; and one brother Walter. She is survived by one son, Richard and his wife, Diane; and one daughter, Barb and her husband, Jerry; three grandchildren: Nicole and her husband, Bob; Ryan and his wife, Laura; and Anne and her husband, Rich; six great-grandchildren: Cooper, Katelyn, Sydnee, Saydee, Emily, and Ben; and other relatives and friends.
Those we love dont go away,
They walk beside us everyday,
Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear.
