Henrietta Ellen Hollander

Henrietta Ellen Hollander was born April 18, 1918, the daughter of Fritz and Clara Grill Petersen. She passed away Monday, February 24, 2014, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of 95.
Henrietta was born in Denison, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at the Fridens Evangelical Reformed Church. She received her education in a rural school near her home. After completing her education she helped on the family farm and area neighbors.
On January 28, 1940, Henrietta was united in marriage to Eldo Hollander at the Fridens Evangelical Reformed Church Parsonage in Schleswig. They made their home on a farm in Crawford County before moving to the family farm in Ida County. In 1982, they moved to their home in Schleswig. She spent three and a half years at the Denison Care Center.
Henrietta enjoyed playing cards, Bridge, Euchre and others. She was a member of United Church of Christ, there Women’s Guild, and several card clubs. She also enjoyed golfing socially for a few years and in recent years she enjoyed watching it on televison.
Henrietta was preceded in death by: her husband; parents; one son, Douglas Hollander; two brothers: Harry Petersen; and Roland Petersen and his wives Laverne and Lorraine; two sisters: Ruth McGinn and her husband, Pete; and Mary Miller and her husband, Ray. Survivors include: one daughter, Frances Clausen and her husband, Delbert of Schleswig; one son, Craig Hollander of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; one daughter-in-law, Arlene Hollander of Sioux City, Iowa; Kristene Hollander of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren: Kim Kragel and her husband, Neil; Trent Clausen and his wife, Shari; Stephanie Arkfeld and her husband, Aaron; Jennifer Peterson and her husband, Bill; Brittany Brokaw and her husband, Nick; and Collin Hollander; eight great-grandchildren: Clint and Adam Kragel; Tarin and Hunter Clausen; Allana and Lance Arkfeld; Talen and Lathen Peterson; two sisters: Dorothy Pollock of Vail, Iowa; and Lois Miller of Mapleton, Iowa; one brother Melvin Petersen and his wife, Marcella of Schleswig, Iowa; one sister-in-law Nellie Petersen of Denison, Iowa.
