Howard Schau

Howard Gustav Schau was born May 18, 1933, the elder son of Hans and Agnes Rothe Schau of Charter Oak, Iowa. He passed away March 22, 2012, in Tucson, Arizona, at the age of 78.
Howard was born at home on a farm near Charter Oak. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hanover Township, in Charter Oak. He graduated from Charter Oak High School, served in the U.S. Air Force and after marriage made his homes in Charter Oak, Iowa; Tarkio, Missouri; and Tucson, Arizona.
Howard married Caroline Jacot on August 6, 1956, in Chandler, Arizona. They were blessed with the birth of three children. As well as owning and operating first a Mobile gas station and then a feed and seed store in Charter Oak, Howard sold agricultural products both in Crawford County and in the Tarkio, Missouri area.
Howard was an active member in his church and in community affairs before retiring to Tucson in 1980 due to poor health. He was a loving husband and father and strong believer in the strength of family and the importance of Christian education.
Howard is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Caroline; parents, Hans and Agnes; and sister Constance and her husband, Charles. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Caroline; his children: Millie and her husband, Rich; Scott and his wife, Joyce; and Susan and her husband, Michael; and a brother, Allen and his wife, Sharon; five grandchildren; Amy (Rob), Matthew (Stephanie), Katherine, Kristen, and Nicholas; five great-grandchildren: Samuel, Madeline and Noah, Jackson and Madeline, and extended family.
Memorial services were held at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Tucson, Arizona on March 26, 2012.
