Ida Therese Day

Ida Therese Day was born January 11, 1918 in Denison, Iowa to Albert and Alma Reimers. At the tender age of 12, she became the woman of the farm household, on the untimely death of her mother. She remained in Denison until moving to Seattle during WWII, where she worked for the US Army at both the Port of Embarkation and the hospital kitchen. While in Seattle, she met a sailor, Hiram Day. Following the war, she moved to Los Angeles, California, where she was to spend over 50 years. During that time she worked as a telephone operator, married Hiram, and raised her family. She loved to travel and with her family traveled to all fifty states. She was widowed in 1999, the same year she relocated to to Fort Wayne, Indiana. In Fort Wayne, she was an active member of Praise Lutheran Church.
Survivors include: one daughter, JoAnne and her husband, Tim; one sister, Helen; one brother, Wilbur ; multiple nieces and nephews.
