James E. Thompson was born June 30, 1939, the loving son of Noah and Mary (Olson) Thompson. He passed away Thursday, June 11, 2015 at the Austin House Assisted Living facility in Cottonwood, Arizona. He was 75 years old.
James was born in Dunlap, Iowa and educated in rural Shelby county. As a youth, he suffered from rheumatic fever.
On June 14th, 1959, James was united in marriage to Judy Samuelson. They were blessed with two children: Gene and Julie. James worked for area farmers and did road construction. He then worked for a logging company as a mechanic. This work took him to DuBois, Wyoming in 1965 and then to the Sedona, Arizona area in the late 1960s. While there, he also worked for H & B construction. James enjoyed fishing and hunting - particularly Elk hunting. He was a fan of Westerns and he loved to socialize with his family and friends.
James is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents; one daughter, Julie; two brothers: Tom and Bill. Survivors include: one son: Gene and his wife, Rhonda; two brothers: Glenn and his wife Lavonne; Dale “Curley”; many other relatives and friends.
