Jan Brungardt

Janice Lee Brungardt was born in Omaha, Nebraska, April 8, 1938, the daughter of Leo and Victoria (Kluza) Kanowski. She died Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at the Creighton Medical Center in Omaha, at the age of seventy-two.
Jan received her education in Omaha, Nebraska, and graduated from Central High School in 1956. On June 3, 1961, she was united in marriage to Thomas Brungardt at the Immaculate Conception Church in Omaha. The couple made their home in Omaha and was blessed with the birth of seven children. While in Omaha Jan worked briefly at J.C. Penneys before deciding to stay home with her children.
In July 1964 the family moved to Denison where they purchased Lucky Lanes with Warren and Mary Ann Grieb. Jan helped Tom, for a brief time, at the Lucky Lanes. Jan enjoyed bowling and went to 26 National Tournaments where she received recognition for her 25 years of bowling.
Jan was a very loving wife, mother, and grandmother who raised her children with love and dignity. Her family and friends were very important to her and she made sure to show them her love and support in everything they did. Jan was a member of the St. Rose of Lima Guild and helped with various community events. Her love of travel was evident as she visited every state in the continental United States with the exception of Maine.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Leo Jr. (Sonnie). Survivors include her husband, Tom; four sons: Joe and his wife, Jill; Paul and his wife, Linda; Kurt and his wife, Ainsley; and Michael and his wife, Janelle; three daughters: Pam and friend, Mike; Tina and friend, Jay; and Jodi and her fiance, Ken; seventeen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Gary; other relatives and many friends.
