Janet Kay Neubauer was born September 10, 1956, in Denison, Iowa, the daughter of Leon and Mildred Neubauer. She passed away Thursday, August 3, 2017, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of sixty.
Janet was baptized in Christ October 14, 1956, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Grant Township, Ida County, Iowa, and confirmed March 22, 1970, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig, Iowa. She received her education in the Schleswig Community Schools graduating from Schleswig High School with the Class of 1974. She continued her education at Spencer School of Business, graduating in 1976 with an associate degree and subsequently was employed in the clerical division at American Republic Insurance in Des Moines for thirty years and also at Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield in Des Moines.
Iowa Hawkeye football and collecting Cherished Teddies were her leisure time favorites. She also enjoyed attending the Iowa State Fair. Janet volunteered at Dam to Dam and for other events in Des Moines. Always having a smile, being a very giving person and always thinking of others before herself were characteristics of hers and because of that, she had great college friends, co-workers and devoted friends. She came home often to visit her parents and to spend time with her family as her nieces and nephews were very special to her.
Janet was preceded in death by her grandparents and parents. Survivors include: two sisters, Lila and her husband, Tim, and Nola and her husband, Matthew; one brother, Kevin and his wife, Tammy; nieces; nephews; great-nieces; great-nephews; other relatives and friends.
