Janice L. Christiansen

Janice L. Christiansen was born January 12, 1938, the daughter of Henry and Florence Preul. She passed away Saturday, February 20, 2016, at the Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, at the age of seventy-eight.
Janice was born on a farm in Denison, Iowa, and was baptized into faith May 1, 1938 at St. John Lutheran Church in Charter Oak and confirmed March 29, 1953 at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. She attended country school and Denison Community Schools. On August 21, 1955, Janice was united in marriage to Howard Christiansen at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. The couple lived on several farms outside of Schleswig and Denison before moving to Denison in 1965. They were blessed with the birth of three children.
Janice worked at Cronk's, Eventide and Worldwide Meats before settling into her long career with Walter's Pharmacy which began in the early 1970's. She loved needlepoint, gardening and raising her blue and purple ribbon prize winning lilies. Her popular potato soup recipe was a favorite of many and was in high demand. She also enjoyed playing card games, especially “hearts”, family get-togethers, socializing with close friends, New Years Eve parties, dinners out in Sloan, and RFD TV.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents, husband Howard, two brothers, Rovanis and Ardelbert; two brothers-in-law, Cecil and Daniel; 2 sisters-in-law, Lorraine, Gloria and one grandson Brett.
Left to cherish her memory are her three children, Robin and her husband, Ed; Jeff and his wife, Laurie; Raquel and her husband, Don; six grandchildren, Andy, Kristin, Ryan, Erin, Trinity and Sawyer. Other survivors include four brothers: Larry and his wife, Mary; Gary and his wife, Barb; Darrell and his wife, Belinda; Richard and his wife, Deb; two sisters, Joyce and her husband, Guenter; Darlene and her husband, Richard; two sisters-in-law, Berneil and her friend Tony; Carol and her husband, Jim; and one brother-in-law Richard and his wife, Cathy; and many other relatives and friends.
