Jeffrey Scott Meyer was born November 10, 1960, at Denison, Iowa, the son of Richard and Rose Mary Cronkhite Meyer. He passed away Friday, June 9, 2017, at his home in Denison, Iowa, at the age of fifty-six.
Jeff received his education in the Denison Community Schools and then worked in the roofing and construction industry for several years, as well as working at Iowa Beef Processors for one year. He was confirmed as an adult at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison on April 23, 2011, where he was currently a member.
A lover of animals, Jeff raised a pet coon and made it a family friend and pet as well as bringing home many stray cats. He enjoyed hunting and fishing especially in the farm pond behind the house and in general being outdoors. Watching sporting events, especially football on television was a favorite pastime for him. In high school, he played football and was a wrestler. Jeff had a big heart, was very generous and gave so much of his life to others.
Jeff was preceded in death by his grandparents. Survivors include his parents, Richard Meyer and his wife, Marcia Bachmann of Denison; and Rose Mary Brodersen and her husband, Roger of Denison; three sisters, Cindy Mathies and her husband, Mark of Denison, Carla Meyer of Phoenix, Arizona and Simone DuBois of Concord, California; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
