Jerry Loren Nollen was born on June 10, 1941, in Arion, Iowa, the son of Jay and Virginia Mae (Johnson) Nollen, and he spent his entire life in the community that shaped him.
Jerry was a proud 1959 graduate of Dow City High School. He was baptized into the Redline Church of Christ in 1963, a testament to his faith and commitment to family values. On June 6, 1964, he married the love of his life, Alice Harris, in Harlan, Iowa. Together, they created a nurturing home for their three daughters, Penni, Lori, and Nikki, who brought immense joy to his life.
Jerry dedicated 43 years of his life to Farmland Foods, retiring in 2003. His work ethic and loyalty were admired by all who knew him. In his younger years, Jerry found great joy in fishing and hunting, activities that connected him with nature and brought him peace. He was an avid sports fan, cherishing the moments spent watching games on TV, but nothing brought him more happiness than supporting his grandchildren in their various activities.
Jerry passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital at the age of 83 years, four months and 11 days.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and parents-in-law, Sterling and Berma (Fiscus) Harris. He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Alice Nollen of Arion; three daughters: Penni (Martin) Hansen of Arion, Lori (Mark) Garrett of Dow City, and Nikki (Jerry) Neilson of Norfolk, Nebraska; six grandchildren: Sara Hansen, Adam (Courtney) Hansen, Jeremy Garrett, Tyler Neilson, Tate Neilson, and Megan Neilson; two great-grandchildren: Rowan and Elliott Neilson, and siblings, Janice Rees of Vincent and Jeff (Arlene) Nollen of Ida Grove; and other family members and friends.
