Jesse Myles Mason was born May 24, 1935, the son of Harvey and Terissa Mason. He died Saturday, February 14, 2015, at the Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan, Iowa, at the age of seventy- nine.
Jesse was born in Deloit, Iowa where he grew up and received his education. Jesse was named after his great-great-great-grandfather, the founder of Deloit, Iowa, then called Mason’s Grove. At age 17, he enlisted in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict, and served on the USS Iowa. On December 2, 1956, Jesse was united in marriage to Ruby Bohm, and they were blessed with the birth of three children. Jesse helped his in-laws on their farm, worked construction, and drove truck for over 40 years. After his retirement, Jesse still continued to drive truck part time. Jesse and Ruby spent many happy years together, and one of their favorite past times was vacationing in Branson, Missouri.
In his spare time, Jesse enjoyed bowling, playing cards, going to casinos, and spending time with family and friends.
Jesse was preceded in death by: his wife Ruby in 2005; his parents; three infant siblings; one sister Betty; one brother: Harvey Jr.; two brothers-in-law; Earl and Lawrence . Surviving family members include: two daughters: Cynthia and her husband, Steve; and Tammy; one son: Steven; three grandchildren: MacKenzie; Casey and her husband, Daniel; Mason; one great-granddaughter: Kaliya; three sisters: Patricia; Carolyn and her husband, Duane ; and Mary; many other relatives friends, and loved ones.
