JoAnn Lea Reisz

JoAnn Lea Reisz was born on September 5, 1947, in Denison, to her parents Bryce and Ella (Retman) Wingrove. She graduated from Dow City High School in 1965. She dedicated 17 years of her life working for Jo-Mart Motel & Steak House and another 10 years at Midwestern College, both in Denison. Her commitment and hard work left a lasting impression on those she worked with and served.

On December 28, 1977, JoAnn married Ralph Reisz at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Together they made a home in Denison, where they created a warm and loving home filled with laughter and cherished memories.

A woman of deep faith, JoAnn embraced Catholicism on May 20, 2009. She was an active member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison, where her strong faith served as a guiding light in her life. JoAnn had many passions and hobbies that brought her much joy. She had a knack for gardening where she had beautiful flowers and bountiful vegetable gardens. Her enthusiasm extended to the kitchen as well where she enjoyed cooking.

JoAnn was a loving and devoted wife. Her kind nature and caring presence touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She had a vibrant personality and always shown genuine kindness towards others. She possessed an extraordinary ability to touch the lives of those around her through acts of compassion and selflessness. Her love and generosity knew no bounds.

JoAnn passed away peacefully on Monday, December 4, 2023, at Gracewell - Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, attaining the age of 76 years, 2 months, and 29 days. In addition to her parents, Bryce and Ella Wingrove, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph Reisz and her brother, Bob Wingrove.

JoAnn leaves behind her sister-in-law, Lucille and her husband Myron Eggers of Whitney, Texas; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends who will miss her dearly but also cherish the time they shared together. She built strong connections throughout her life and touched the lives of many with her kindness, compassion, and unwavering love.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a rosary at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, December 11, 2023 at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on December 12, 2023, at 10:30 am, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Dow City Cemetery in Dow City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Gracewell-Eventide Lutheran Home or Silveridge Assisted Living.
