Jodie Ellen Hill was born August 7, 1926, in Swiss, West Virginia. She passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at the Denison Care Center, Denison, Iowa, at the age of 87.
Jodie received her education in Summersville, West Virginia and graduated from the Nicholas County High School. She made her home in Lockwood, West Virginia. She was united in marriage to William S. Hill Jr. in 1945. The couple moved to Ohio in the late 1940's and was blessed with the birth of two children. They later moved to Arizona. She worked at General Electric and Honeywell, as a travel living accountant, for many years. In the mid 1980's, Jodie moved to Iowa to be close to her daughter.
Jodie was a very gracious, kind, caring, generous, and loving mother. She was instrumental in helping her daughter with her family and taught them values, honesty and integrity. She was a very shy person but was able to make lifelong friends to neighbors and her children’s friends. Jodie enjoyed watching homecoming parade and reading, especially Christian and romance novels. She also enjoyed watching “Little House On The Prairie,” “Perry Mason,” “Murder She Wrote,”.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include: her daughter, Teresa Groth and her husband, Earl of; her son, James S. and his wife, Judith of ; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one sister, Melva; other relatives and friends
