John Arthur Wulf was born June 10, 1947, in Battle Creek, Iowa, the son of Arthur and Dorothy Wulf. He died at Morningside Healthcare Community in Ida Grove Thursday, January 5, 2017, at the age of sixty-nine.
John was baptized at Friedens Evangelical Reformed Church and confirmed at the United Church of Christ in Schleswig. He received his education at a country school near his home through the 5th grade, then attended school in Schleswig and graduated from high school with the Class of 1965. John served his country in the Army Reserves from 1966 until 1972 taking basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, and AIT in Arizona. Following his military service, he returned to Schleswig to farm with his parents and raise cattle.
He served on the Crawford County Cattlemen’s board for twenty years and the Farm Service Agency board for thirty years. John also served on the Beef Promotions Board of Iowa and the State Marketing Committee. He was also a member of the Schleswig Community Club and the United Church of Christ in Schleswig.
In his leisure time, John enjoyed talking on the CB radio, fishing, hunting, going to tractor pulls, his trips to Montana to pick up feeder cattle and his John Deere’s. Visiting with friends and family was also a pleasure of his.
John was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors are cousins; including Larry and Judy and their children: Koda, Melissa and Ryker.
