John W. Bartlett

John William Bartlett, age 69, son of Lois and Verl Bartlett, was born July 16, 1947. He passed away at his home in Denison, Iowa, on May 15, 2017.
He attended Denison Community Schools and graduated from high school in 1966. He attended Clarinda Community College and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy being assigned to serve on the USS Buchanan during the Vietnam War.
During high school, John worked at his father’s and uncle’s business, Denison Seed Company. He worked there for many years and enjoyed visiting with everyone that walked through the door. John then worked for Coleman Motors until his retirement last year and most recently, he worked part-time for Huebner Funeral Home.
John was united in marriage to Mary Grace Webb on August 17, 1968, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison. They had three daughters, Julie, Beth and Kathleen.
Some of the things he enjoyed the most were early morning coffee and prayer with Mary, anything chocolate, working outside in the yard (especially on hot days), walks with his dog Jack, the mountains, car racing, watching and listening to all sports, especially anything Iowa State, making people laugh, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lois and Verl. He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughters, Julie (David); Beth (Scott);and Kathleen (Chris); grandchildren, Betsy, Marie, David, Henry, Rose and Caroline; one brother, Larry and his wife, Gayle; other relatives and friends.
