Judith Jane Hintz

Judith Jane Hintz, also known as Judy, was born on May 11, 1944, to the late Vernon and Esther (Seehusen) Hulsebus. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison where she remained a faithful member. Judy graduated from the Denison High School with the Class of 1962. Afterward, she attended Iowa State University and in later years she obtained her Licensed Practical Nursing Degree from Western Iowa Tech in Denison in 2001.

On April 10, 1964, Judy was united in marriage to Verdell Hintz at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Defiance. To this union, they were blessed with three children: Theresa, Scott, and Patricia. They made their home on the farm outside of Denison.

Judy was a remarkable individual who pursued various careers throughout her life. In earlier years, she worked in customer service, accounting at Pamida, framing for Topko and Frazier Building & Supply. Judy also served as an Activity Director at Eventide and a Nursing Aide at the Reed Place in Denison. Her passion for caregiving led her to become a Licensed Practical Nurse where she was employed at Eventide and Denison Care Center.

Outside of work, Judy was actively involved in her community. She was a member of the Iowa Decorative Painters, embracing her artistic side with enthusiasm. Additionally, she happily participated in the Bowling League and actively contributed to the Zion Ladies Guild. Judy led a fulfilling life, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and dedication to her family and community.

Judy had a rich personal life filled with joyous moments and cherished connections. She held an unwavering love for flowers and found solace in fishing trips surrounded by nature's beauty. She enjoyed reading, bowling, painting and crafts. Above all else, Judy adored spending time with her family. Her devotion was immeasurable, and she treasured every moment shared. Judy's love knew no bounds, and her family held a paramount place in her heart. While she will be deeply missed, the memories shared with Judy will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Judy passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Heritage Heights in Denison, attaining the age of 79 years, 2 months, and 30 days. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Verdell Hintz; siblings: Janice Scheuermann and Jim Hulsebus. Judy is survived by her children: Theresa Blum of Vail, Scott Hintz and his wife Marilyn of Carlisle, and Patricia and her husband Vince Holihan of Deloit; proud grandmother to seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; siblings: Jeanne and her husband Brian Gehling of Carroll and Jack Hulsebus and his wife Rhonda of Maquoketa; brother-in-law, Jim Scheuermann of Boxholm; many other relatives and friends. 

Visitation with Family Greeting Friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 14, 2023 at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison. Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison with interment to follow in Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison. Memorials may be directed to the family.
